“I don’t believe in fretting or grieving, why mess around with strife? I wasn’t cut out to to step out and strut out. Give me the simple life.”
I first heard this song in the Disney film Meet the Robinsons but it has remained one of my favorites.
The simple life, there’s a lot to be said for it.
Simple doesn’t necessarily mean little, the oxford dictionary defines simple as:
Easily understood or done; presenting no difficulty: a simple solution
Occam’s Razor is a principle of logic, which in essence states that the simple solution is usually the best. I laugh because despite my father not knowing this, he believes the same. I quoted him as saying “Keep it simple stupid.”
This weekend I had the opportunity to practice this, I went to my family reunion, something I enjoy. However, there is little to no cell reception in Amboy IL, so I was deprived of my usual technology. Simplicity, enjoying the company of my family in the outdoors.
This aspect of being simple has given me a new goal, one day out of the month I’ll disconnect myself from technology, from the constant noise of the outside world. Ideas are the child of thinking, with all the rapid information constantly streaming into our minds we often leave thinking to who or whatever is talking to us at any given moment.
Hope this gives some food for thought,
Keep thinking and enjoy the Simple Life.
