I almost beat my record for not being sick. Usually immediately after market season I fall ill with a horrible cold or fever, but this year I’ve managed to avoid it, until now. Really though making it four months without so much as the common cold isn’t so horrible, but now I have succumbed to the germs.
It’s fairly obvious when I get a cold, my head hurts, my nose runs, I blow my nose like the tuba player in an orchestra, a trail of used tissue and toilet paper follow me into every room, filling every garbage can.
When my father gets sick, once every five years, he gets needy and attention starved. I am the opposite, I like to be away from everyone with some form of entertainment: an audiobook, music, television etc.
So far I have watched:
(I think I’ve enjoyed Magnum P.I. most.)
As I entertain myself with Netflix, my stack of books leers, taunting me saying, “I may not be going anywhere, but neither are you. Time is passing, leaving you behind.” My books are as encouraging as the Grim Reaper, but I ignore them by turning the TV’s volume up.
Over the weekend I hope I can fully repair and recover. I’ll sit on the couch, drink hot tea, and blow my nose like the trumpet of an elephant. So this weekend, I’m sick with the common cold.
What do you guys do when you are sick? Do you read books or watch television?
